The official Sonic the Hedgehog Youtube channel has updated with the trailer for Sonic Frontiers that was first shown at the Game Awards 2021. While the trailer did not feature any gameplay footage, the trailer reveals that the game may be an open world styled game. No other details about the game is revealed at this time so stay tuned for updates. Sonic Frontiers will be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in Holiday 2022.
While the trailer did not show any gameplay I can easily say that the game looks gorgeous and the world looks vibrant and lively. That being said if the game does turn out to be an open world game it is both exciting and terrifying as Sonic does not have a great track record when it tries to break out of the box. Sadly though the same can be said when Sonic plays too close to home so hopefully this game will turn out good.
