Marvel Cancels Partnership with Northrop Grumman

Coming at you with some news this Monday morning. During New-York Comic-Con, Marvel Entertainment had announced that they were teaming up with Northrop Grumman for a one issue comic that was going to be distributed at the convention. Due to fan outcry since Northrop Grumman is a known military weapons developer. Marvel Entertainment decided to cancel the partnership. To quote the Marvel statement about this subject.

“The activation with Northrop Grumman at New York Comic Con was meant to focus on aerospace technology and exploration in a positive way,” Marvel said in a statement. “However, as the spirit of that intent has not come across, we will not be proceeding with this partnership including this weekend’s event programming. Marvel and Northrop Grumman continue to be committed to elevating, and introducing, STEM to a broad audience.”

I have to say I was surprised at how quick Marvel was to cancel the event/partnership. Usually when fans are quick to criticize Marvel. They tend not to listen and proceed to do it anyway but I’m glad this time the fan out cry was able to stop this from happening. I just don’t think a comic company should be working with a military weapons developer but hey that’s just me. Anyway, until the next news story, I’m XBen3000 and I’m out!
