Mega Man: Fully Charged Premiere at SDCC 2018

Recently San Diego Comic Con’s website revealed through its schedule that the convention will host the premiere of Mega Man: Fully Charged, the new animated series based on the Mega Man (Rockman) franchise. The premiere panel will be hosted on July 20th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Below is the official description on the schedule:

Kazuhiro Tsuchiya (CAPCOM, video game producer, Mega Man, Asura’s Wrath), Man of Action (creators of Ben 10 and the team and characters of Big Hero 6), and Logan McPherson (DHX Studios, VP, creative and animated production, Slugterra, The Deep, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2D series)) give a behind-the-scenes peek into the production of this new animated show, aimed at kids 5 to 11.

Celebrating the 30-year legacy of this iconic, game-based character, the panelists will discuss the background and creative evolution of the new series, followed by screening of never-before-seen footage from the show, coming soon to Cartoon Network.

For those unaware, Mega Man: Fully Charged is a joint production between Dentsu Entertainment USA, Man of Action Entertainment, and DHX Media. The series was original intended to be released in 2017 during the franchise’s 30th Anniversary, but the production was delayed. The series is set to be aimed towards children ages 5 to 11, as well as the parents who grew up with the video games. The show will introduce Mega Man’s alter-ego, Aki Light, an upbeat schoolboy who is actual a robotic hero. When Aki needs to become Mega Man, his skin re-forms into impenetrable nanocore armor which includes a helmet, and his iconic Mega Buster arm cannon. The series will also feature other original characters like Rush, and introduce new characters like Mega Mini. Mega Man: Full Charged is intended to feature a season of 26-episodes.

This year’s San Diego Comic Con will take place on July 20 to 23, and be hosted at the San Diego Convention Center.
