Michael B. Jordan to produce “Static Shock” Theatrical Film

We have some news coming out of The Hollywood Reporter this evening. Michael B.Jordan production company Outlier Society to help produce the Static Shock film. Back during DC Fandome we had news about Static Shock getting a live-action film during the Milestone Comics surprise panel. To quote Michael B. Jordan statement from The Hollywood Reporter about this news.

“I’m proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around black superheroes; our community deserves that,” said Jordan in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step.”

Outlier will be in the creative center of the Static feature and for Jordan, a comic book fan, this is an opportunity for not only for some world-building but to be directly involved in franchise-building. Should the first movie spark a hit, a multi-platform franchise could be born.

This is some great news because so many fans have been wanting a Static Shock live-action film. I’m still in shock that it’s actually happening because it’s something I’ve wanted for so long but didn’t know whether or not we would receive it. I’m hoping it does will enough so that more Milestone comic characters can come to the big screen and isn’t in the Zack Snyder DC Universe. I have a feeling with DC/WB wanting to have their own multiverse of superhero films. My fears can be put at ease for now unless they do something akin to Crisis but given that we had that earlier this year. I don’t see that happening anytime soon film wise. Please, let us know what you think about this news down below. Hopefully Dwayne McDuffie is proud of this turn of events.
