Netflix Announces New “Castlevania” Animated Series

Netflix has recently confirmed that a new series based on the Castlevania games is currently in the works for Netflix. For those who are not aware, the previous Castlevania series premiered on the service in 2017 and concluded with its’ fourth and final season earlier this May. The series consisted of 32 episodes. The new series will focus on Richter Belmont and Maria Renard. The series will be set in France during the French Revolution.

In the games, Richter Belmont made his debut appearance in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, which was released for the PC Engine in Japan in 1993. Fans outside of Japan would not be able to play the game until the remake, which was released for the SNES titled, “Castlevania: Dracula X.” A more faithful remake was later released for the PlayStation Portable as “Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles.” The original version of the game did make its’ way on the Turbo-Graphix 16 Mini, which was released last March and available on all regional releases.

No other details about the project is confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
