New Star Trek Animated Series Greenlit

Earlier this year, it was reported that a new animated series based on the Star Trek franchise was being considered for Nickelodeon. It was also reported that Kevin and Dan Hageman would be working as the head writers on the project.

Today Variety has reported that the series has been greenlit. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kaiden, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Rath will be working as the executive producers. Aaron Baiers has been brought on to be the co-executive producer on the project. The series will be produced by Eye Animation Productions, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Ramsey Naito, who is the “EVP of animation production and development at Nickelodeon” will be overseeing the series.

Variety provided a short description of the project.

The new CG-animated series will followagroup of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation.

No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
