PlatinumGames’ Project G.G. Teaser Trailer

Today, PlatinumGames‘ released a teaser trailer for their new upcoming game in Hideki Kamiya’s superhero trilogy. Currently, titled “Project G.G. A Go-Go!” the game is heavily inspired by the tokusatsu genre, specifically the Ultra series. For those unaware, tokusatsu means special effects in Japan, but in the west it is commonly referred to kaiju and transforming heroes-based media. Now from the trailer below, we get see our Ultra-like hero transform like Kamen Rider to fight a kaiju. So, essentially besides Ultraman other famous tokusatsu series like Kamen Rider will most likely be referenced throughout this game.

Currently, the known staff on the game’s development consist of Hideki Kamiya as director, and Atsushi Inaba as producer. Also, the official site features a message from Kamiya regarding the development of Project G.G. We took a quote from the full message, but fans can read the full message here:

Project G.G. (that’s just a working title, by the way) is different. Unlike any of the games we’ve made so far, it’s going to be a 100% PlatinumGames title. For everything from its setting and characters, to its game design and story, to how it’s promoted – PlatinumGames is in full control.

Of course, that has its downsides, too. We’ll be taking on new risks that we’ve never had to assume before as a contracted developer. Having full control over the Project G.G. IP gives us a ton of freedom, but also a ton of responsibility. Still, I think we can harness that sense of responsibility and turn it into motivation to make Project G.G. the best game it can be.

Nevertheless, this announcement has the staff of Hero Club excited as we love tokusatsu, and we have enjoyed previous PlatinumGames releases! So, fans can expect us to bring possible updates on this game’s development, as they are made available.
