“Scott Pilgrim” Anime Series in the Works at Netflix

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that an anime series based on the popular “Scott Pilgrim” graphic novel is in the works for Netflix. For those who are not familiar with the original graphic novel, it was created by Bryan Lee O’Malley. The graphic novel debuted in 2004 and ran until 2010 with a total of six volumes. The graphic novel focused on a musician named Scott Pilgrim, who falls in love with a delivery girl named Ramona Flowers. However, in order to date her he must defeat her seven evil exes. The graphic novel was previously adapted into a live-action film titled, “Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World” in 2010 and also received a game adaptation by Ubisoft in the same year.

The Netflix adaptation will be produced by Netflix with the help of UCP, which is a division of Universal Studio Group. Original creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley will write and work as an executive producer on the project alongside BenDavid Granbinski. If the project is greenlit the series will be animated by Science SARU with Eunyoung Choi working as a producer of the project and Abel Gongora will be serving as the director. No other details about the project are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
