SDCC 2019: Dawn of X

We have some Marvel Comic news coming out of SDCC 2019. This is coming out of The Dawn of X panel which is showcasing the new era of X-Men coming this October. X-Men #1 is going to be the first series coming out of the current House of X and Powers of X comic mini-series. We have Jonathan Hickman writing this series with artist Leinil Yu doing the artwork for this series.

This October, new era dawns! The X-Men find themselves in a whole new world of possibility…and things have never been better!

“Mutantkind has always been special…as has their relationship with the world—or worlds—around them. Can the new Captain Britain forge a new way through the chaos with her companions Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee, Rictor…and Apocalypse?” Excalibur #1 is set to come out this October as well. Writer Tini Howard and artist Marcus To are set to work on this series.

Next up we have Marauders #1! This series will be written by Gerry Duggan and artist Matteo Lolli. This series is set to deal with the mutants dealing with the oppression from humans. “Led by Captain Kate Pryde and funded by Emma Frost and the Hellfire Trading Company, Storm, Pyro, Bishop, and Iceman sail the seas of the world to protect those hated and feared as the MARAUDERS!”

New Mutants #1 is our next book that’s set to come out this November. Jonathan Hickman will be co-writing this series with Ed Brisson and artist Rod Reis. “The classic New Mutants—Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Karma, Magik, and Cypher—get together with a few new friends—Chamber and Mondo—to seek out their missing member and share the good news…a mission that takes them into space alongside the Starjammers!”

Next up is Fallen Angels #1. “Psylocke finds herself in this new world of Mutantkind unsure of her place in it… But when a face from her past returns only to be killed, she seeks help from others to get vengeance. Cable and X-23 join Kwannon for a personal mission that could jeopardize all of mutant existence!” This series is set to be written by Bryan Edward Hill with artist Szymon Kudranski.

X-Force is set to make a return as well this fall. X-Force is the CIA of the mutant world—one half intelligence branch, one half special ops. Beast, Jean Grey, and Sage on one side—Wolverine, Kid Omega and Domino on the other. In a perfect world, there would be no need for an X-Force. We are not there…yet. Benjamin Percy will be writing this series with art by Joshua Cassara.

Overall, it seems like a great time to be an X-Men fan. We have a some fresh air being breathed into this comic book franchise and I am looking forward to seeing how it will all play out. Nevertheless, I am Ben and I am out!
