Entertainment Weekly has revealed some new official stills of the upcoming Netflix original She-Ra and the Princesses of Power animated series. For those who are unaware, Dreamworks Animation will be producing a new series based on Filmation’s She-Ra: Princess of Power animated series. Earlier this May, the cast was revealed for the new series.
The latest images features a look at the art style of the new series as well as featuring a look at some of the characters.
The series’ premise will be very similar to the original 1985 series, featuring Adora, who was kidnapped when she was a child and raised by the Evil Horde. Later in her life she discovers her true identity.
Noelle Stevenson, the show runner of the series recently had an interview with Entertainment Weekly. One of the highlights of the interview is her thoughts on her take on Adora/ She-Ra.
“We’ve really started from the same starting point where the original show started from because Adora has such a great backstory,” Stevenson says. “She’s separated from her family as a baby, she’s sent to another planet, she’s adopted by the villain overlord and raised by him in this evil army. She’s been raised to believe that the villains are doing the right thing and that the Princesses are the evil ones. And so we follow her as she has this crisis of faith; she’s been very sheltered her whole life and as she starts to experience the world, she realizes that there’s more to this than she knew, that maybe there’s a reason they were called the Evil Horde,” Stevenson laughs, “that maybe they were evil.”
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is set to premiere on Netflix on November 16.
