The official Star Wars website has updated with an announcement that a new animated series based on the The Bad Batch is in the works simply titled, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.” For those who are not aware, Clone Force 99 aka “The Bad Batch” were a group of unorthodox elite squad of clones. The team was first introduced as a part of a deleted storyline in The Clone Wars animated series, which later became the first part of seventh season of the series when it was revived for Disney+. The original team consisted of Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, and Wrecker. After the events of The Bad Batch story arc, Echo joined the team as their fifth member.
The official Star Wars website provided a description for the series.
The series follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch — a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army — each possess a singular exceptional skill, which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.
Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, Brad Rau, and Jennifer Corbett will be working as executive producers on the project while Carrie Beck will be brought on as co-executive producer. Josh Rimes will be working as a producer on the project. Rau and Corbett will serve double duty as head writers.
No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates. Star Wars: The Bad Batch will launch on Disney+ in 2021.
