Saint Seiya Live-Action Adaptation in the Works

MY COSMOS IS BURNING! For today, it was announced that a live-action adaptation for Saint Seiya has been green-lit. The Eiga.com reported that Toei Animation will be co-producing the film with the Chinese distribution company, A Really Good Film Company (ARGF). In addition, the director and producers for the film were revealed during the announcement. The Saint Seiya film will directed by Polish director, Tomasz Bagiński. Bagiński, best known for his Academy Award-nominated short animation, The Cathedral, and the Witcher series intros. Then Toei Animation‘s own, Yoshiyuki Ikezawa and Kozo Morishita will serve as producer and executive producer. Kozo Morishita has served as director, producer, and planner for most of the Saint Seiya animated series and feature films.

 

Saint Seiya is an original manga series written by Masami Kurumada published from 1986 to 1990. The manga series was quickly adapted into an anime series. Since its conception the series, has had three animated series, several anime films, various OVAs and spin-offs. In addition, the series has been distributed worldwide becoming popular in Europe, South America, and North America. Viz Media published the original manga as Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. The original anime series two dubs and distributions through ADV Films and DIC. ADV Films was the more faithful dub of the series, whereas DIC the more publicly known dub was not. This lead to the series having trouble becoming in North America until New Video Group re-released the series on DVD, as well as becoming accessible through Crunchyroll’s streaming service. Now, one can only hope for the best with this production!

Bluefin has announced that they will be releasing S.H.Figuarts Ultraman Orb Origin Form in North America.   The figure will be released in August priced at $54.99.

Crunchyroll To Stream Attack on Titan Season 2

Crunchyroll has announced that they will be streaming the second season of the Attack on Titan anime series.

Currently the series will be available only to subscribers in North America, however no other details are confirmed at this time.  Stay tuned for updates.

Crunchyroll also provided a short synopsis for the season as well as a trailer.

Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity’s freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. Crunchyroll to Stream Mobile Fighter G Gundam

Crunchyroll has announced that they will be streaming the Mobile Fighter G Gundam anime series.  For those who are unaware the series first debuted in Japan in 1994.  The series later premiered in North America during the Toonami block in the early 2000s.

Crunchyroll will be streaming the original Japanese version with English subtitles starting at 5 P.M. PST/ 8 P.M. EST to all subscribers and will be available worldwide except for Asia.

Crunchyroll also provided a synopsis for the series.

For the past few months, we have been reporting on the impending release for S.H.Figuarts Ultraman Orb Origin the First. Now, we have the official image gallery, and additional information on this release. The form is releasing in August, and its MSRP is 5940 yen. Unfortunately it is still an Amazon Japan exclusive, for those who thought that deal might change. However, like the normal mass-release of SHF Orb Origin pre-orders will begin on April 3rd 2017. The figure is shown to feature Orb Origin the First body, Orb Slash effect, Origium Ray effect, optional Color Timer, and additional hands.

Ultraman Orb was the most current series in the Ultra franchise, and was commemorating the series 50th Anniversary. The series starred Hideo Ishiguro (Kai in Kamen Rider Den-O), as Gai Kurenai/ Ultraman Orb who came to defend earth from Demon King Beasts. Ultraman Orb began its run on July 9th, 2016 to December 24th, 2016 for a total of 25 episodes. The series has gone on to receive two spin-offs, and a feature length film. Now, this form originates from one of the spin-offs, Ultraman Orb the Origin Saga, which is an Amazon Prime exclusive series that concluded a few weeks ago. However, the original series is available on Crunchyroll.

Official Images: S.H.Figuarts Tiger Mask & Tiger the Dark

On Thursday, Tamashii Nations updated its item listings for S.H.Figuarts Tiger Mask and Tiger The Dark from Tiger Mask W. Both are slated to be August releases, and will be sold for 6480 yen. Orders for these figures are confirmed to going up for pre-order tomorrow, March 27th. The series is currently on-going, and is simulcasted on Crunchyroll. What is really interesting about the series is its crossovers with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The anime feature several of the wrestlers such as Hiroshi Tanahashi, Rainmaker Okada, and Yuji Nagata. In addition, Tiger Mask W jumps off the screen as Kota Ibushi portrays the character at NJPW events. Just this year at Wrestling Kingdom, Tiger Mask W squared off with Tiger the Dark (portrayed by ROH’s ACH)!

Tiger Mask WCrunchyroll’s Synopsis for those interested:
The main characters are Naoto Azuma and Takuma Fujii, two young pro wrestlers. They were trainees at a small wrestling organization called Zipangu pro wrestling, but it wound up getting crushed by the wicked pro wrestling organization Tiger’s den. In retaliation, Naoto trains at the base of Mt. Fuji and becomes the new tiger mask, and Takuma meanwhile deliberately joins Tiger’s den and becomes Tiger the dark.

The legacy left behind by the original Tiger mask is inherited by a new wrestler…!

Crunchyroll to Stream Boruto – Naruto Next Generations

Crunchyroll has announced that they will be streaming Boruto – Naruto Next Generations.  The series is set for a Spring release, however no exact premiere details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.  For those who are unaware the series is a spin-off series starring Naruto’s son, Boruto.

Crunchyroll provided a synopsis for the series.

The Hidden Leaf Village has entered an era of peace and modernity. Tall buildings line the streets, giant screens flash with images, and the Thunder Rail runs through the village, connecting each district together. Though it’s still a ninja village, the number of civilians has increased and the life of the shinobi is beginning to change.

Boruto Uzumaki, son of Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, has enrolled in the Ninja Academy to learn the ways of the ninja. The other students are ready to dismiss him as “just the son of the Hokage,” but Boruto’s heart and character blow all their assumptions away.

As a series of mysterious events begins to unfold, it’s up to Boruto and his new friends to handle them. Like a gale-force wind, Boruto makes his own way into everyone’s hearts; his story is about to begin!

Crunchyroll To Stream My Hero Academia

Crunchyroll has announced that they will soon be streaming both the first and second season of My Hero Academia.  Season One is stated to be added shortly before Season 2, with new episodes being simulcasted on April 1.  Previously it was announced that the series would be simulcasted by Funimationbut it has been confirmed that Crunchyroll will also be streaming the series.

Crunchyroll also provided a synopsis for both seasons of the series as well as some previews for the simulcast.

Season 1

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.

Season One of My Hero Academia will be available to CR members in the following territories: US, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden.

Season 2

In a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that won’t stop him from enrolling in a prestigious hero academy. Now, the promising freshman class is making its debut at the world-renowned U.A. Sports Festival! It’s Quirk versus Quirk as our young heroes face off in the ultimate showdown.

S.H.Figuarts Ultraman Orb Origin & Orb Origin the First Teaser

Tsuburaya Productions’ official web site has released teasers for the next upcoming Ultraman S.H.Figuarts. These S.H.Figuarts are based on Ultraman Orb Origin, and Orb Origin the First. The two originally were teased in the previous Figure-oh magazine, but barely had any information on their release. Now, this teaser has most of the information one sought. Both figures will release at retail this August and be sold for 5940 yen. However, S.H.Figuarts Ultraman Orb Origin the First will be an Amazon exclusive. One can easily attribute this due to the fact that Ultraman Orb the Origin Saga is an Amazon Prime series. The full image galleries are not active yet, but we will post those in due time.
