Last November it was revealed that Illumination Entertainment was in talks to produce a film based on the Super Mario franchise. Today Nintendo announced that they have partnered up with the company and the producers for the film will be Chris Meledandri, founder of Illumination Entertainment, and Shigeru Miyamato. The film will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures and will be co-funding by the company and Nintendo. No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment are currently in the works to bring the Super Mario Bros. back to the big screen.
