Tamashii Nations 10th Anniversary World Tour Osaka: Digivolving Spirits Metalgarurumon Prototype Revealed

Recently images of this year’s Tamashii Nations World Tour in Osaka have surfaced online which revealed the prototype for the Digivolving Spirits Metalgarurumon.  Similar to Digivolving Spirits Wargreymon, the new figure for Metalgarurumon will feature an updated sculpt.  No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.

The Drop Episode 5: Of Gundams & Saints

On this week’s episode of The Drop, Fighter Xaos discusses his opinions on the recently announced, Saint Seiya live-action movie! Then Xaos moves onto Zeta Gundam: A New Translation trilogy coming out on Blu-Ray in North America. Finally the show is closed out with the Dragon Ball Super preview, which shows the first female Super Saiyan that is not from a game.

Western Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Nintendo Switch Release Date Announced

Bandai Namco Entertainment America and Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe have announced the release date for the Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.  The game will be available in both regions later this Fall.

The Switch version will feature a new ad-hoc co-op mode, which will allow up to six players to connect locally and will also feature a motion sensor that allow players to use ultimate attacks.

The “Time Patrol” story from the first game will be available as a limited time bonus and the first round copies of the game will include a download code that will unlock 70+ characters from the main story immediately.

Saint Seiya Live-Action Adaptation in the Works

MY COSMOS IS BURNING! For today, it was announced that a live-action adaptation for Saint Seiya has been green-lit. The Eiga.com reported that Toei Animation will be co-producing the film with the Chinese distribution company, A Really Good Film Company (ARGF). In addition, the director and producers for the film were revealed during the announcement. The Saint Seiya film will directed by Polish director, Tomasz Bagiński. Bagiński, best known for his Academy Award-nominated short animation, The Cathedral, and the Witcher series intros. Then Toei Animation‘s own, Yoshiyuki Ikezawa and Kozo Morishita will serve as producer and executive producer. Kozo Morishita has served as director, producer, and planner for most of the Saint Seiya animated series and feature films.

 

Saint Seiya is an original manga series written by Masami Kurumada published from 1986 to 1990. The manga series was quickly adapted into an anime series. Since its conception the series, has had three animated series, several anime films, various OVAs and spin-offs. In addition, the series has been distributed worldwide becoming popular in Europe, South America, and North America. Viz Media published the original manga as Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. The original anime series two dubs and distributions through ADV Films and DIC. ADV Films was the more faithful dub of the series, whereas DIC the more publicly known dub was not. This lead to the series having trouble becoming in North America until New Video Group re-released the series on DVD, as well as becoming accessible through Crunchyroll’s streaming service. Now, one can only hope for the best with this production!

Official Images: S.H.Figuarts Madara Uchiha

Premium Bandai has updated with an official preorder page for S.H.Figuarts Madara Uchiha.  

The figure will include:

  • Alternate arms (Left & Right X1)
  • Replacement wrists (Left & Right X3)
  • Alternate face parts X2
  • Weapon parts

Preorders for the figure will open on May 19 at 4 PM JPST and will be released this October priced at 7,020 Yen.   Bluefin will be releasing this item at a later however, those who are interested in securing the item earlier should contact their preferred middleman for more details.

Digimon Adventure Tri. Stage Play Announced

Toei Animation has recently opened a new website which revealed that there will be a stage play for Digimon Adventure Tri.  The stage play will be calledDigimon Adventure Tri: The August 1st Adventure (Digimon Adventure Tir ~ 8-gatsu Tsuitachi no Bōken~).”  The stage show will debut at the Zepp Blue Theater Ropponngi in Tokyo starting on August 5.  The show will run for 10 performances and will run until August 13.

The stage play will be produced by Polygon Magic and will feature a side story starring the eight DigiDestined.   More information including price details and more will be revealed at a later date.

Shout Factory Announces Halo Legends Anthology Release

Shout Factory has announced that they will be releasing the Halo Legends Anthology in North America. 

For those who are unaware the Halo Legends Anthology is a collection of short anime films centered around the Halo franchise. The films were produced by various animation teams, which include: Bee Train, Bones, Casio Entertainent, Production I.G., Studio 4, Studio 4°C, and Toei Animation.  The series was directed by Frank O’ Conner and Joseph Chou.  The films were originally released by Warner Bros. in 2010 so it has been quite some time that there were available on the market.

Currently no other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.

Digimon Adventure Tri Chapter 2: Determination US Blu-ray Release Date Announced

Amazon has recently opened preorders for the English release of Digimon Adventure Chapter 2: Determination. According to Amazon it will be released on August 15.  The Blu-ray is currently listed at $24.99 and the DVD is priced at $14.99.

 

Currently no other details about the releases such as special features etc are confirmed at this time, however those who are interested in preordering a copy can check out the listings on Amazon.

Anchor Bay Licenses Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions Film’s Home Video Release

Anchor Bay Entertainment has announced that they will release Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions on Blu-ray/ DVD and Digital HD on June 27.  The home video release will feature dual audio (English/ Japanese) and four featurettes.

Screen Vision Media provided a synopsis for the film.

The stakes have never been higher; the rivalries never as fierce; the risks never so great. One wrong move—one card short—and it’s game over for good. A decade in the making, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions features new designs and an all-new story from the original creator of the global phenomenon, Kazuki Takahashi. His masterful tale features anime’s most beloved characters in their long-awaited return: Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, and their faithful friends Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor Téa Gardner, and Bakura. Mazinger Z Movie Teaser Streamed

Toei has updated their official US Youtube channel with a teaser trailer for the worldwide release for upcoming Mazinger Z film. Not much else is known about the project except that it is set to premiere sometime this year. No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
