Today, Tsuburaya Productions and Netflix announced that a second season is currently in production for the Ultraman anime. This announcement came via a presentation featuring series co-directors Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Amaraki at that Festival International du Film d’Animation d’Annecy in France. During the presentation both directors express their gratitude to the fans, and expressed how they have enjoyed producing the first season. In addition, a teaser video was released on the series’ official Twitter regarding the confirmation of the second season. However, further details on the second season will be announced through the official anime’s website in the coming months.

In addition, to the announcement of the second season we also have some information regarding the official soundtrack for season one. The ULTRAMAN: Music from the Netflix Original Anime Series by Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi will release worldwide (except in Japan) by Milan Records, USA. The intended release is for July with an exact date to be determined as well as full track listings.
The first season of the Ultraman anime premiered on April 1st, 2019 and consisted of 13 episodes. The series is based on the Ultraman manga by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi, which serves as a direct sequel to the original Ultraman tokusatsu series. In the manga, the son of Shin Hayata, Shinjiro discovers he was born with the Ultra-gene and thus is destined to become an Ultraman. However, instead of transforming into “the giant of light,” Shinjiro and the other “Ultra Brothers” done weaponized Iron Man-like suits capable of recreating some of an Ultra’s base abilities. The manga is currently published by Viz Media in North America.
