Early this morning, Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd. officially announced their next installment in the Ultra series, Ultraman Taiga. This new series will officially begin airing on Saturday, July 6th and will be broadcast on TV Tokyo. Ultraman Taiga will also be the seventh series within the “New Generation Heroes” series which began with Ultraman Ginga in 2013 to last year’s Ultraman R/B.

Now, Ultraman Taiga will be the first series where our main character/ protagonist, Hiroyuki Kudo will possess the ability to become three different Ultras: Ultraman Taiga, Titas, and Fuma. In addition, the series will be the first Ultraman series to air during the Reiwa era. Furthermore, Tsuburaya Productions provided an official synopsis for the series and character information regarding our various heroes, as well as the villain. Fans, will definitely be surprised as to who is the series villain, seeing as the character was recently introduced within the franchise.

Tsuburaya Productions Official Synopsis:

Aliens have been emigrating to Earth secretly, but only a handful know about this truth. Living in such a society, our main character Hiroyuki Kudo begins working at a private security organization, E.G.I.S. (Enterprise of Guard and Investigation Services). The organization takes care of cases related with aliens, and Hiroyuki works day and night to protect peace. However, there lies a huge secret about him, which he himself is not aware of. Hiroyuki carries Ultraman Taiga’s “particle of light.” This new story begins just as Taiga’s powers revive within Hiroyuki’s body!

Our Heroes:

Hiroyuki Kubo is 22 years old at the start of the series; he is a young member of the private security organization E.G.I.S. Hiroyuki has always had a kind heart, and a strong sense of justice. Now, as a child he was attacked by alien, but saved by the light of Ultraman Taiga who unexpectedly arrived on Earth. However, this lead to Taiga joining with the young Hiroyuki who was unaware of this for years. Yet, as the story advances, Hiroyuki and Taiga will encounter Titas and Fuma, becoming allies with one another. Hiroyuki’s longtime goal is to become the bridge between humans, aliens and Ultraman.

Hiroyuki Kubo will be portrayed by Yuki Inoue, who was born on June 6th 1996 (also 22 years old) in Hiroshima. Yuki Inoue is known for having won the 2017 Special Jury Prize at the Horipro Talent Scout Caravan. Yuki Inoue has gone on the record to explain he has be very excited to be playing Ultraman, a hero he has always admired since he was a kid. Also, he explained how he would attend the yearly stage shows for the Ultra series growing up. He hopes his time as Ultraman Taiga will be a role remembered by future generations.

Ultraman Taiga:

The son of Ultraman Taro (first appearing in Ultraman Taro (1973)), who once saved the Earth. Ultraman Taiga lives in his father’s shadow hoping his father, Taro will recognize him. However, he cannot come to admit these true feeling. Now, like Hiroyuki, Taiga has a strong sense of justice but is very enthusiastic. Along with Titas and Fuma they will form the “Tri Squad.” Furthermore, though he is still young and not skilled, he dedicates his life to fighting for peace on Earth. Together with Hiroyuki, he will grow to become a true Ultraman.

Ultraman Titas:

The second Ultraman that dwells inside Hiroyuki. Ultraman Titas is a warrior and sage from Planet U40, the birthplace of Ultraman Joneus (first appearing in The Ultraman (1979)), as opposed to the Land of Light in Nebula M78. With his carefully trained body and healthy spirit, he is the skilled heavyweight in battles. Fans should also notice the similar star-shaped Color Times between Joneus and Titas.

Ultraman Fuma:

The third Ultraman that dwells inside Hiroyuki. Ultraman Fuma is from Planet O-50, the planet where Ultraman Orb (first appearing in Ultraman Orb (2016)), Rosso and Blu (both first appearing in Ultraman R/B (2018)) acquired the power as warriors of light. He has quick reflexes and various techniques that make him strong in battles that require speed. Fuma has a rough personality, but also a strong sense of duty.

Left to Right: Titas, Taiga, Fuma

Transformation Devices

The Taiga Spark is a wrist mounted tool (that is reminiscent of the Mebius Brace) which connects the bonds between humans and Ultraman. By combing a Taiga Accessory with the Taiga Spark, one can borrow the powers of heroes and monsters sealed inside. Now, the Ultra Taiga Accessories are the collectible gimmick of the series containing the powers of heroes and monsters. Various types of Taiga Accessories exist such as key chains, bracelets, and rings. The key chain types are used specifically for transforming into Ultraman Taiga, Titas, and Fuma.

Our Villain

Ultraman Tregear is an evil Ultraman that first appeared in Ultraman R/B The Movie, the film premiered earlier this year on March 8th. Ultraman Tregear is another Ultraman from Nebula M78 who was originally one of Ultraman Taro’s closets friends, but fell to the dark side. He will become the arch-nemesis of Taiga, and will relentlessly target him. Could this be his revenge towards Taro?

Ultraman Tregear is voiced by Yuma Uchida. Uchida is known for various voices in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, Yuuma Kousaka in Gundam Build Fighters Try, Ein Dalton from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Salt from Zoids WILD.

Now, this concludes the initial announcement for the series. More information on Ultraman Taiga will be released in the weeks to come regarding the staff and additional cast members. Please, stay tuned to Hero Club for when these updates are made available to the public.
