Earlier today Yacht Club Games held a livestream featuring a looking at some of the upcoming games the company has been developing.
First, they revealed a new trailer for Shovel Knight: King of Cards. For those who have not been following up with the development process of this game it has been a while since the campaign has been announced. Luckily Yacht Club has assured that the game will be releasing this December alongside the announced amiibo three pack.
King of Cards marks our grandest adventure yet, and we hope the trailer whets your appetite for the banquet of adventure which awaits! It has more levels, mechanics, secrets, and content than any Shovel Knight game to come before it. It’s a spectacle, crammed to the coffers with ideas- it’s the biggest game we’ve ever made, and we can’t wait for everyone to finally, finally play it. We’ve used everything we’ve learned in the past to make this game shine. We hope that you’ll find it both a delightful return and a fitting sendoff to Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.
Next, the company revealed a a new mode to Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove called Shovel Knight: Showdown. Unlike the base game, which is a platformer this mode is a local four-player brawler. The video features the playable characters in the game and previews some of the game modes.
Duel with up to 4 players and scramble after gems as your favorite heroic or villainous knight in Shovel Knight Showdown. All the classic Shovel Knight characters you know and love are playable, many for the first time ever! Gather your pals for endless multiplayer clashes, or take control of your favorite character and dig into Story Mode. Familiar controls, items, and mechanics return, making this a platform fighting game that anyone can jump into and try. Shovel Knight Showdown features local only multiplayer, and arrives as a free update to all existing versions of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove on consoles and PC. It will not be available on portable platforms (3DS and Vita). It will also be made available as a standalone game!
Both the Shovel Knight: King of Cards campaign and the Shovel Knight: Showdown will be released in an upcoming free update to players who own the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove bundle. They will also be available separately for purchase. Additionally, a new physical release version of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove will be available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and for the first time on Xbox One this December as well.
The company also announced a brand new Shovel Knight spinoff game titled, “Shovel Knight Dig.” The game is being developed by Yacht Club Games with the help of Nitrome. Currently it is unknown when the game will be released nor what platform(s) the game will be released on.
Yacht Club Games provided a description for the game.
An all-new presentation featuring a new Shovel Knight story! When Drill Knight and his dastardly digging crew blast apart Shovel Knight’s peaceful campsite and steal his loot, he grabs his trusty Shovel Blade and starts tunneling after them!
