HBO Max Green Lantern Series Greenlit

We have some news about the upcoming Green Lantern series that’s coming to HBO Max. We already knew it was coming to the streaming service but now we have some more details. A huge thank you to Variety for getting this news out.

“The show will depict the adventures of a multitude of Lanterns, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott — Earth’s first Green Lantern, who, true to the comics, is a gay man — and many more. The series will also include fan favorites such as Sinestro and Kilowog, and will also introduce new heroes to the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps.

HBO Max has ordered 10 one-hour episodes. The series will be co-written and executive produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim, with Grahame-Smith serving as showrunner. Berlanti Productions will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Berlanti is under a rich overall deal.

Now, I could not be happier to hear that some of my favorite lanterns like Simon and Jessica will be featured in this series. One thing I do not know right now is whether it’s going to be a live-action show or animated series. I’m hoping for an animated series given how well done the Green Lantern series from 2012 was done, but I feel with Berlanti involved were set for a live-action show. However, I am okay with it, but I would prefer to see the Lantern corps used to their fullest potential in animated format. That said well know more once things start going into production but Lantern fans rejoice. One of the biggest parts of the DC Universe is finally coming to a television near you in the future.
