Netflix Japan Announces Yu Yu Hakusho Live-Action Adaptation

Today, Netflix announced that a live-action adaptation of Yoshihiro Togashi’s manga, Yu Yu Hakusho is in production. However, this live-action adaptation is being produced through its Japanese branch. Currently, the staff includes Netflix’s contents acquisition director Kazutaka Sakamoto as executive producer, and Akira Morii as producer. The series is being produced at Robot, which also produced the live-action adaptations for Space Battleship Yamato, and Assassination Classroom.

 

Executive producer Sakamoto is noted to have grown up reading the original manga, and seeing the anime. In addition, Sakamoto acknowledges the series impact on anime and its fanbase throughout the world. Furthermore, he focused on how Netflix is trying to assemble the best talents in Japan for the series. However, Netflix is also trying bring in outside international talent for additional roles between its staff and cast.

 

Now, Netflix intends for the live-action adaptation to be streaming simultaneously worldwide upon its release. Yet, its method of release may change near its official premiere. Nevertheless, stay tuned for more updates, and remember to follow Hero-Club across social media.
