The final update from last night’s Premium Bandai update is for a S.H.MonsterArts set. This S.H.MonsterArts is the Special Color Version for Mothra in both of its forms, Larva and Imago. This set is an attempt to not just reissue the figures, but to better represent Mothra’s on-screen appearance in Godzilla vs Mothra; otherwise called in North America as Godzilla & Mothra: Battle for the Earth. Originally the two were sold separately, with Mothra (Imago) being the first released in the spring of 2014. Then as for Mothra (Larva) it was released alongside Battra (Larva) later that year. Now, aside from the premium paint job the set will include a Tamashii Stage and a blast effect part for Mothra (Imago). These may not be entirely special for those that already own the originals, but for those that do not own them it gives fans a second chance to get them. Some could even argue owning the Special Color Version could represent ReoMosuImago and ReoMosuLarva in his or her collection.
S.H.MonsterArts Mothra (Imago) and Mothra (Larva) Special Color Ver. is an August 2017 release. Orders will open tomorrow, March 24 at 16:00 Japan Standard Time. Premium Bandai has the set priced at 10,800 yen for local customers. However, I expect the set will be distributed to North America via Bluefin Tamashii.
