“Peacemaker” Prequel Series Announced for HBO Max

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that and eight episode series based on the character Peacemaker has been announced for HBO Max. As the name suggests the series will revolve around Peacemaker (John Cena) and will take place before the upcoming film. According to the Hollywood Reporter, production on the series is set to start in early 2021 just before James Gunn will be working on the third Guardians of the Galaxy film. James Gunn and Peter Safran will be working as executive producers on the project. John Cena will be working as the co-executive producer on the project. Troll Court Entertainment (James Gunn) and The Safran Company will be producing the series with the help of Warner Bros. Television.

In the comics, Peacemaker made his debut appearance under the Charlton Comics banner in March 1967. The original incarnation of the character was created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette.  The company was later bought by DC Comics in 1983 bringing the character to the DC Comics brand. Peacemaker would later officially become a DC Comics character with a four issue miniseries, which was released in 1988.

No other details about the series has been revealed at this time so stay tuned for updates. The Suicide Squad is set to release in theaters in 2021.
