Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield – Gigantamax Pokémon are Coming! Trailer

Today, the official Pokémon website and YouTube channel provided new information for the upcoming Nintendo Switch releases, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. The new information provided is in regards to the new Gigantamax Pokémon mechanic that the new generation will introduce. Formerly referred to as Dynamax, Gigantamax will allow trainers to transform form their Pokémon into kaiju-like titans. However with the massive size increase, selective Pokémon will obtain an all-new form and new special moves. Below is the trailer of the vintage and iconic Pokémon that will obtain exclusive Gigantamax forms. Following the trailer, we break down the information pertaining to each Gigantamax Pokémon’s stats, and how players can obtain them.

 

‘Let’s Go’ Pikachu & Eevee

Players can obtain these Pokémon by having save data/ play records of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! on their Nintendo Switch.

 

Gigantamax Pikachu

  • Type: Electric
  • Ability: Static
  • Height: 68’11”
  • Weight: ???
  • G-Max Move: G-Max Volt Crash – Deals damage and also paralyzes all opponents!

Gigantamax Eevee

  • Type: Normal
  • Ability: Run Away / Adaptability
  • Height: 59’1″
  • Weight: ???
  • G-Max Move: G-Max Cuddle – Deal damages and causes any opponent that is the opposite gender of Eevee to become infatuated!

Max Raid Battle Charizard & Butterfree

Players can catch Gigantamax Pokémon for their team by participating in the Max Raid Battles. However, they are very rare, and finding one is not easy.

 

Gigantamax Charizard

  • Type: Fire/ Flying
  • Ability: Blaze
  • Height: 91’10”
  • Weight: ???
  • G-Max Move: G-Max Wildfire – A move that will continue to deal damage to an opponent for four turns, permitted it is not a Fire type!

Gigantamax Butterfree

  • Type: Bug/ Flying
  • Ability: Compound Eyes
  • Height: 55’9″
  • Weight: ???
  • G-Max Move: G-Max Befuddle – Deals damage and will also scatter scales around opponents causing them to become either poisoned, paralyzed, or fall asleep!

Mystery Gift Meowth

The Gigantamax Meowth is a special gift, as an early-purchase bonus for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Players will be able to obtain this Meowth through the ‘Get via Internet’ option in the Mystery Gift feature. Furthermore, this Gigantamax Meowth will only be available from Friday, November 15, 2019 to Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

  • Ability: Pickup/ Technician

  • G-Max Move: G-Max Gold Rush – A move that deals damage to opponents and confuses them. In addition, the move will give players a considerable in-game cash bonus after the battle.

 

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will release worldwide on November 15.
