Scott Derrickson Leaves Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

We have some Marvel Cinematic Universe news to kick off the new year. Scott Derrickson is stepping down as director of the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film. Right now Derrickson is citing the following reason as to why he’ll be leaving the directors chair this time around.

Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP.

I’m sad to see Derrickson leave but in some good news, he will remain on as executive producer on this film. I’m upset that they couldn’t come to an agreement, especially when creative differences seem to be the main reason as to why. It makes me and others wonder what where those differences. I know when Doctor Strange originally came out, Marvel stated that some of the ideas Derrickson had were considered “weird stuff” so I could see that being an issue. Marvel would want to play it safe I suppose rather than venture outwards which I feel would stifle creativity. They should have more faith in their directors and writers but I guess Marvel Studios knows what they’re doing if they can keep the MCU going for 12 years now.

Anyway, let us know how you feel down below and I’ll catch you later. Be sure to stick with Hero-Club for all the nerd news you’ve come to care about. I’m Benodinson and I’m out of here!
