Sentai Filmworks Licenses Aura Battler Dunbine Anime Series

Sentai Filmworks has recently announced that they have acquired the license to the Aura Battler Dunbine anime series.  The company will be releasing the series both digitally and home video, however no other release details are confirmed at this time.

The series was previously licensed by ADV Films in North America and was streamed on the Daisuki service last year.

For those who are unaware, Aura Battler Dunbine is based on the original The Wings of Rean novel, which was created by Yoshiyuki Tomino. The series aired in 1983 and featured a retelling the novel. The series was followed up with a three part OVA series titled “,  Aura Battle Dunbine: The Tale of Neo Byston Well.”

Sentai Filmworks provided a description for the series.

Transported from his home in Tokyo, a seemingly ordinary 18-year-old Shou Zama finds himself in a new world known as Byston Well, a country that has been torn apart by overlord Drake Luft. Refusing to participate in Luft’s evil plans, Shou joins the resistance where he uses his incredible Aura Powers to fight for freedom inside a lavender-colored mecha.
