Viz Media Announces Inuyasha Blu-Ray Home Video Release

Viz Media has recently updated their official twitter page with the announcement that they will be releasing the Inuyasha anime series on Blu-ray/ DVD this Fall. While the series received a DVD release in the past, this will be the first time the series will be available officially on Blu-ray in North America. For those who are not aware the anime is based on the manga series of the same name written by Rumiko Takahashi. The first anime series were based on the first 36 volumes of Takasahi’s manga series. The series aired in Japan in 2000 and ran until 2004. The English dub aired on Adult Swim starting in August, 2002 and ran until October, 2006. The series also aired on YTV in Canada.

The series received a sequel anime series titled, “Inuyasha: The Final Act,” which covered the final volumes of the manga series. The sequel series aired in Japan starting in October, 2009 and ran until March, 2010. The English dub for the series premiered on Adult Swim in October, 2012 and ran until March, 2013. The first anime series consisted of 167 episodes and the sequel series consisted of 26 episodes leading to the series having a final total of 193 episodes.
