February 2021 Nintendo Direct Streamed

Recently, Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct that featured a look at some new upcoming games as well as updates for existing games. This is a very exciting event as the last proper Nintendo Direct was held in September, 2019, so it has been over a year since a full proper Nintendo Direct was held.

First, the direct revealed that Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be making their way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the next DLC fighter. While not much detail has been shown in how they will be implemented as a single fighter it seems the player will be able to switch back between them freely. They will be released sometime in March.

Next, the direct revealed that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” will be released for the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021.

Third, it has been revealed that “Outer Wilds” will be making its’ way on the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021.

Fourth, it has been revealed that remakes for Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir (Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Kōkeisha) and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind (Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shōjo) will be making their way onto the Nintendo Switch. For those who are not aware, the games were originally exclusively in Japan for the Famicom so this will be first time the games will be released overseas. Both games will be released for the Nintendo Switch on May 14.

Fifth, it has been revealed that “Samurai Warriors 5” will be released for the Nintendo Switch sometime this Summer.

Sixth, the Direct revealed that Legend of Mana Remaster will be released for the Nintendo Switch on June 24. For those who are not aware, Legend of Mana is the fourth title in the “Mana” series. The game was released for the original Playstation. This version of the game will include a rearranged soundtrack and a “Ring Ring Land” minigame.

Seventh, the Direct revealed a new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise. The latest trailer featured a look at some more monsters that will appear in the game and some of the environments they live in. Additionally, it has been revealed that Monster Hunter Rise Deluxe Edition Switch and the Monster Hunter Rise Switch Pro Controller will be released in North America on the same day as the game’s release. Monster Hunter Rise will be released on March 26.

Eight, it has been revealed that a new title in the “Mario Golf” series will be released for the Nintendo Switch. The latest game will be titled, “Mario Golf Super Rush,” and will be released for the Switch on June 25. The game will feature the return of a story mode, which veteran Mario Golf fans should be happy to see. “Mario Golf Super Rush” will be released on June 25.

Ninth, it has been revealed that “Tales from the Borderlands” will be released for the Nintendo Switch on March 24.

10th, the Direct featured more details on Capcom Arcade Stadium. The first game in the service, 1943: the Battle of Midway will be available for free starting today and various paid add on packs will be available as well.

11th, the Direct revealed that “Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse” will be released on March 16.

12th, the Direct revealed more details on “No More Heroes 3.” In this game Travis Touchdown will be fighting aliens while doing odd jobs to get money like in the previous titles. “No More Heroes 3” will now be released on August 27.

13th, the Direct then revealed a new game by developer Annupurna Interactive titled, “Neon White.” The game will be released this Winter.

14th, the Direct featured a new game that focuses on the DC Super Hero Girls. The game will be titled, “DC Super Hero Girls Teen Power,” and will be released on June 4.

15th, the Direct revealed that “Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition” will be released on March 19.

16th, the Direct revealed that a remaster of “Miitopia” will be making its’ return on the Nintendo Switch. For those who are not aware, Miitopia was a RPG that focuses on Mii characters. The game was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016. The game will be released on May 21. 

17th, the Direct revealed a look at the upcoming Super Mario update for Animal Crossing New Horizons. Several items that were featured in the trailer include outfits of Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Wario. Additionally, a pipe item can be used for easy teleportation between some parts of the player’s island. The update for the game will be available starting on February 25 and the items will be available starting on March 1.

18th, the Direct featured a look at a new strategy RPG that will be developed by the Octopath Traveler team. The project is currently titled, Project Triangle Strategy,” and is set to release in 2022. A demo for the game is currently available on Nintendo eShop and a feedback survey will be released in the future.

19th, the Direct revealed a new free to play Arena Combat game based in the Star Wars universe will be released for the Nintendo Switch. The game will be titled, “Star Wars Hunters,” and is set to release in 2021.

20th, it has been revealed that a new dodgeball game titled, “Knockout City,” will be released for the Nintendo Switch on May 21.

21st, the Direct revealed that “World’s End Club” will be released for the Switch on May 28.

22nd, it has been revealed that “Hades” will be receiving a physical edition on March 19. The physical edition of the game will include a digital soundtrack and 32 page artbook.

23rd, it has been revealed that “Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection” will be released on June 10. The collection will include remastered versions of “Ninja Gaiden Sigma,” “Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2,” and “Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge.”

24th, the Direct revealed that an expansion pass will be released for “Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity.” Pre-orders for the pass will be available later today and will be priced at $19.99.

Continuing on, the Direct featured a quick look at some upcoming games, which include:

Bravely Default II – Feb 26
Ghosts n’ Goblins Resurrection – Feb 25
SaGa Frontier Remastered – April 15
Apex Legends – March 9

26th, the Direct then transition to The Legend of Zelda series director, Eiji Aonuma. He first revealed that the sequel for The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild will take more time to develop and currently no other details about the game is available at this time. He then revealed that a remaster of “The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword” will be released for the Nintendo Switch. This version of the game can be played in handheld mode and will also feature a new button based control layout as well as updated motion controls. Additionally, it has been revealed that new The Legend of Zelda Joycons will released alongside the game. “The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD” will be released on July 16.

Lastly, the direct revealed a first look at “Splatoon 3.” Not much details about the game was shown at this time, however the game will launch sometime in 2022.
