Holiday Buyers Guide 2016 – Day IV: Animated Toys & Collectibles

Once again welcome back to the Holiday Buyers Guide 2016! Today, for our fourth day we have animated series and their collectibles. Starting off the list is the ever popular Transformers series, which is currently celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the original movie with its mix of Hasbro and Takara products. That will then be followed by some products from popular anime titles, which will be closed out with Sunrise’s/ Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Mobile Suit Gundam series.

Transformers

masterpiece-optimus-primal

Masterpiece Optimus Primal MSRP: $119.99
The Masterpiece series finally has “Maximized!” as it has released its first Beast Wars figure, Optimus Primal just this fall! As the newest edition to the Masterpiece series, Optimus Primal features a screen accurate mold/ transformation, various face-plate expressions, additional weapon based accessories and LED lights for its eyes. Truly a must have for any Beast Wars fans; also coming out in Early 2017 is Masterpiece Cheetor!

Titans Return/ LG Titan Class Fortress Maximus MSRP: $149.99 or 27,000 JPY
Titan Class Fortress Maximum is highly sought after Transformer, because no matter what incarnation it is, it is always the largest and most expensive Transformer one can find. Now, this modern day version of the character even tops the list as the largest Transformer toy to date, being out the original! If one is to choose Hasbro’s Titan Return edition of the toy, one cannot complain due to the fact it’s the cheap of the toy and Black Friday is really helping to prove that point. Whereas if one goes with Takara’s Legends edition it will easily set back the buy being almost double the American, but the money going into is to pay for screen accurate look within Headmasters anime, as well as features the voice of the original actor, and the theme song!

takara-unite-warriors-computron

Takara Unite Warriors Computron MSRP: 16,200 JPY
Now, will agree that the staff was highly biased on this selection, but when one compares this to its Hasbro counterpart anyone could see why! The Takara Unite Warriors while being slightly more expensive than the Hasbro release features for the consumer several additional weapons, screen accurate molds, and paint schemes. Please note that this item can only be found at specific online retailers, due to importation.

Robots in Disguise – Warrior Class: Starscream, Windblade & Ratchet MSRP: $14.99
The Robot in Disguise series has not had much released this year, however from the slim range of new products these are the three one should get, and luckily enough they’re all Warrior/ Deluxe Class figures! First up is the Toys R Us exclusive Starscream, who managed to survive his encounter with Predacons at the end of Transfromers: Prime. The next figures are at normal retail and feature the second lady of team Bee, Windblade, along with the returning Ratchet, meaning another way to own a Jeffery Combs related figure!

Titans Return Deluxe & Voyager Class Figures MSRP: $14.99 & $24.99
This choice was an entirely difficult one for us, as we believe that one cannot go wrong with either Deluxe or Voyager figures especially when these are some of the affordable and higher quality figures in the Generations line. Now, we would also recommend the leaders but at the moment they are seemingly rare in areas, are higher in value, and have the lowest options to choose from, whereas these classes are easier to find and have a better selection of characters. Right now the series is up to wave 3 with a total of 13 Deluxe Class figures with the inclusion of the Walgreens exclusive Brainstorm, and 6 Voyagers, featuring ironic characters like Optimus Prime, Megatron, Galvatron, Astro Train, and Hot Rod! An added bonus to the figures is their Titan Master ability that allows their heads to be interchangeable with one another, or pilot their vehicle modes.

s-h-figuarts-omegamon-our-war-game-edition

S.H.Figuarts Omegamon – Our War Game Edition MSRP: $64.99
Early this year, Tamashii Nations released a new Omegamon figure as a part of the S.H.Figuarts for Digimon’s 15th Anniversary. However unlike being based on its original design this newer one is based off highly loved anime movie, Our War Games which was compiled with two other Adventure based movies to be Saban’s Digimon the Movie. In which Omegamon made its first on-screen debut, thus meaning nostalgia should be kicking into full gear and making it a high priority to original fans of the series!

Pokémon Poké Pla No. 39 Solgaleo & No. 40 Lunala MSRP: 1000 JPY
The people of Japan really love to build models, and because this hobby is highly enjoyed Pokémon even partakes in adding to the creativity by having Poké Pla produced yearly! With the release of the seventh generation Pokémon Sun & Moon, it would be expect that models of the games’ signature legendaries would be made. Now, at the moment Solgaleo and Lunala can be purchased individually making the nice gifts for the Poke fan in one’s life, but its best to mention a gift set often comes out a little later for the signature legendaries feature some cardboard backdrops and maybe additional effects for display purposes.

asw-g-29-gundam-astroth-origin-hg

– ASW-G-29 Gundam Astroth Origin MSRP: $15.99
This red demon is one of the cooler Mobile Suits to come out of the side stories. The Astroth was a suit during the Calamity Wars, but the family of the mobile suit hit hard times and had to sell off its beautiful armaments for quick cash. A badass design with cool and simple weapons, that’s also very easy to build being from Iron Blooded Orphans. One can’t go wrong with add this sweet HG to his or her collection!

scramble-gundam-hg

– Scramble Gundam MSRP: $21.99
This bright orange colored hybrid of the Destiny, the Zeta, and more was a new Gunpla featured in the Gundam Build Fighters Try: Island Wars special! It was not meant to be a powerhouse, as it was a prototype, but when things became a mess and it got taken over by god did this Gunpla attempt to be the Alpha and Omega! Now, its’ nice blue Plavsky Particle condenser pieces and unique weapons help set this kit apart from the newer kits featured in the special.

ms-06s-sinanju-rg

– MS-06S Sinanju MSRP: $41.99
From Gundam Unicorn it is the Sinanju, the mobile suit stolen and used by the Char clone, Full Frontal! Being that Frontal is a Char, one can easily expect the suit to be crimson red and be able to work as a close combat or ranged based mobile suit with a plethora of accessories. Now, we only wonder if Bandai will be crazy enough to make a Real Grade Neo Zeong for the Sinanju to pilot?!

fp-build-strike-full-package-rg
