New York Comic Con to Host Cowboy Bebop Writer & Designers

Yesterday, Funimation Entertainment announced that it will be bringing screenwriter Keiko Nobumoto, character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, and mechanical designer Kimitoshi Yamane to New York Comic Con. They will be attending as guests to appear at the Cowboy Bebop 20th Anniversary retrospective panel. In addition, Funimation is hosting a contest to win a dinner with all three staff members. Entries are open to New York Comic Con attendees who have purchased Funimation’s Cowboy Bebop 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition. Funimation will select three random winners from all of the entries submitted before this Friday, July 13.

Keiko Nobumoto debuted as a screenwriter after winning the Third Fuji TV Young Scenario Grand Prix in 1991. She is known for the Cowboy Bebop’s composition, and creating Wolf’s Rain. In addition, Nobumoto served as scenario supervisor for the first Kingdom Hearts game. Furthermore, she has contributed scripts to Space Dandy, Macross Plus, and Samurai Champloo.

Toshihiro Kawamoto began his work at Sunrise, serving as an animator and designer on several Mobile Suit Gundam productions. However, Kawamoto is best known for being the animation director and character designer for Cowboy Bebop and Wolf’s Rain. Yet, Kawamoto is currently known as a co-founder of studio BONES which produced Wolf’s Rain, Fullmetal Alchemist, Eureka Seven, Space Dandy, and many other popular series!

Kimitoshi Yamane started his career as a mechanical designer at ARTMIC on Bubblegum Crisis and A.D. Police Files before the studio disbanded. Eventually Yamane became an independent designer, providing designs for a variety of Gundam series. In addition, Yamane has contributed to Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, and several other series.

The 2018 New York Comic Con is to be held from October 4th to 7th at the Javits Center in New York City.
