PMC Day Three: Boom Studios! Beyond the Grid Panel *Spoilers

Earlier today Boom Studios! presented their Beyond the Grid panel at Power Morphicon 2018. The panel features a look at what is coming soon for the Power Rangers comics beyond “The Shattered Grid.” For those who have not been following, the current storyline in the Power Rangers comics by Boom Studios! is called The Shattered Grid.” The event features the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers teaming up with the other rangers throughout the history of the franchise in order to stop Lord Drakkon. The storyline will wrap up with Shattered Grid #1, which is set to release on September 12.

*Keep in mind the panel featured major spoilers that are in the upcoming event in the Power Rangers comics so read at your own discretion.

First, the panel featured a look at the evolution of Lord Drakkon, which should be explained further in the finale one-shot.

Next the panel revealed that the next storyline for the comics will be called “Beyond the Grid,” which should not be a surprise going by the panel’s name. The storyline will debut in Issue 31 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Thirdly, the panel revealed the identity of the “Dark Ranger.”  What is really awesome to see is that the identity of the “Dark Ranger” is Heckyl, which should excite many Power Rangers fans since he was originally going to be the “Talon Ranger” in Power Rangers Dino Super Charge. He will debut in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #35 – The Origin of the Dark Ranger, which will release in January 2019.

Fourthly, a new ranger was revealed. The Solar Ranger will debut in Issue 32 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, however no other details are revealed at this time.

Speaking of Heckyl, Ryan Carter, who played the character in Power Rangers Dino Super Charge made a surprise guest appearance at the panel.

Continuing on, it has been revealed that Go Go Power Rangers will continue to focus on the original five Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Go Go Power Rangers Issue #14 will be released this November.

While that announcement does not come as a surprise; the next one should since there will be some “power swapping” in Go Go Power Rangers, which will be introduced in Go Go Power Rangers Issue #15 and will at least continue into the next issue.

Next, rest assured even though the Shattered Grid event is about to end, it has been revealed that “more character origins and other world building origins,” will continue between Mighty Morphin Powers and Go Go Power Rangers during the Beyond the Grid event.

Finally, some preview images from the Soul of the Dragon graphic novel were revealed. The 90 page graphic novel will be Kyle Higgins’ last Power Rangers story and unlike the current running comics, it will be a continuation of the original  television series. The Soul of the Dragon graphic novel will be released this December.

And that is it for Power Morphicon 2018. Thanks for everyone who has been following up on our official coverage of the convention. Stay tuned for more Power Rangers news and more from us at Hero-Club.com!
