[ACEN2022] RightStuf & Nozomi Entertainment Panel: Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise & More

Saturday afternoon, two of our staff members were in attendance for the Anime Central 2022, RightStuf & Nozomi Entertainment Panel. Seemingly, several other news sites have overlooked a lot of the things discussed during the panel. So, the following is a breakdown on the new anime home video releases, and updates to previously announced titles. In addition, all the information is provided by our translators, Touma Kaito and Alias Westgate, as well as RightStuf’s listings:

New Announcement: Rental Magica

Based on the supernatural light novel series by Makoto Sanda, the 24-episode anime adaptation directed by Itsuro Kawasaki aired in 2007. Now, for the series 15th anniversary, Nozomi Entertainment is distributing Rental Magica on Blu-Ray. Also, the set will host special features like a special promo, commercial spots, clean credits, a US Trailer and Nozomi Trailers. Finally, this home video release is expected to be available on home video in early August. Below is a synopsis for the series as provided by Rightstuf:

Destroying supernatural monsters… dispelling dark magic… It’s all in a day’s work for the mages of Astral! However, after the mysterious disappearance of the company president, they’re left in a lurch. His son, Itsuki Iba, begrudgingly fills in, but Itsuki’s unfamiliarity with magic could spell bad news for Astral – especially with their rival Goetia vying for the very same contracts. As the jobs grow ever more dangerous, they soon find that staying in business is the least of their worries.

Updates: Dirty Pair Kickstarter

During the panel, RightStuf and Nozomi Entertainment readdressed the overly successful, Dirty Pair Kickstarter. They informed attendees that the entire franchise dub project was still on schedule for its release next year. In addition, they reassured fans that the original voice actress for Kei (Pam Lauer), and Yuri (Jessica Calvello) begun re-recording sessions. Furthermore, they informed fans who backed the Kickstarter to check page constantly for any new updates regarding the project.

A half-baked OVA that was released as theatrical film, and intended as a sequel to Gundam Unicorn. Now, the standard edition is available on home video for fans to own with dual audio options. Previously, the only option for the film was the special edition as sold by RightStuf in late 2020.

This set contain the two compilation films for the series, which were previously only available on DVD. The films retell the events of Turn A Gundam, but the streamlining of the series removes all the depth. At the end of the day, both films are essentially over glorified recaps specials and clip-shows.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Collection 1 – Pre-order

This collection is the first half of the Gundam Seed series released in a standard edition format. The set includes episode 1 to 24 of the HD TV remaster for the series. Whereas, the set is scheduled to release this July.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Collection 2 – Pre-order [NEWLY Announced]

During the panel, it was confirmed that orders would begin this weekend for the second collection of Gundam Seed. Like the previous set, this is the standard edition for the HD TV remaster and contains episode 25 to 48. Surprisingly, fans will have to wait long for this collection, as it will release one month following Collection 1 in August.

Coming Soon:

Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise

Towards the end of the panel, RightStuf and Nozomi Entertainment teased that a home video release for Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise is finally underway. For those unaware, Build Divers Re:Rise is a direct sequel to the 2018 series, Gundam Build Divers. Both series are expansions to the Build Fighters concept, but these installment go further into virtual reality. Now, some wondered when the series would be released on home media in North America since it concluded in 2020. Several fans assumed the delay occurred due to the series streaming for free on YouTube via Sunrise, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, fans believe the companies were waiting to secure the license for the supplementary Battlogue ONA to include as a bonus feature. Nevertheless, fans can expect more details on this release within the near future!

Nadia Secret of Blue Water – Re-Release

The final announcement within the coming soon portion is for a re-release of Nadia Secret of Blue Water. Now, this release was originally announced by GKIDS this past April, and that the release would be a 4K remaster. Currently, we assume that RightStuf is working with GKIDS on special edition for collectors. However, there are no other details regarding this release or Rightstuf’s involvement at this time. So, everything is just speculation, and fans should await more details.

Now, this concludes our look at the RightStuf & Nozomi Entertainment Panel at Anime Central 2022. However, we did ask our staffs members if they could ask RightStuf representatives more details regarding these announcements. Hopefully, we will be able to get some clarification from their staff attending the convention. Yet, we cannot make any guarantees that we will obtain any further information. So, if we do get any response from RightStuf, we will update this post accordingly. Nevertheless, stay tuned to Hero-Club for more updates, and make sure to follow us across social media using @HeroClub4Life!
