Last night, Premium Bandai updated its site with the listings for the May 19th pre-order items. Among the items listed is the previously teased S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan God Goku! Fans best know this form of Super Saiyan for its debut in the 2013 Dragon Ball Z film, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. The form was achieved through a ridiculous process where Shenron was summoned, and a wish was made to inform the Z-Fighters of the necessary ritual to obtain the form. The ritual in question, required five Saiyans to merge their energy into one singular host, which was obviously Goku for his rematch with Beerus. The form reappears again, through the re-telling of the film in Dragon Ball Super, as well as become alternative form/ability for Goku in video games. However, since its debut the form was replaced for Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, otherwise known as Super Saiyan Blue.
Now, back to the figure at hand! S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan God Goku is retool/remold of the basic Goku figures as of late. The figures paint apps are at best attempting to recreate the appearance from Battle of Gods. In addition, the figure itself will feature three optional facial expressions, and four pairs of alternative hands. Furthermore, the Tamashii Effect Energy Aura Yellow shown in the gallery is not included with this figure. One will have to purchase that Tamashii Effect separately, but not to worry it is basic retail product.
As stated before orders for S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan Goku will open tomorrow, May 19 at 16:00 JST. Orders for the item will then ship this October. Premium Bandai is selling the item for 5616 yen, with international buyers needing to go through other providers. However, for North America they will most likely be able to purchase this item through Bluefin Tamashii.
Yesterday, Hero Club converged on Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Station for Tamashii Nations 10th Anniversary World Tour: New York City! For those who may be unaware of the event, it is a two-day event showcasing upcoming products from Bandai’s sub-division Tamashii Nations. Tamashii Nations is known for its work with anime/manga and tokusatsu properties to create high-end collectible figurines, and accessories. In addition, Tamashii Nations has expanded its lines to include living individuals such as Michael Jackson, Bruce Lee, and WWE Superstars as well as characters from DC, Marvel, and Star Wars.
The event is elaborately set-up to be like Japan’s own Tamashii Features events, or its Akiba Showroom. Dragon Ball is the focus point of the exhibit, as a balloon display for Shenron and the Dragon Balls hang over head. Furthermore, there is a large statue of S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan Goku Awakening Edition on display, and an area for attendees to get pictures taken of them riding the Nimbus Cloud. There are at least eight to ten displays for Dragon Ball, consisting of S.H.Figuarts, S.H.Figuarts ZERO, Tamashii Buddies, and Absolute Chogokin figures. For the regular S.H.Figuarts a majority of them are separated into their individual series, and arcs. The new reveals are S.H.Figuarts for Kid Goku, Korin, Gotenks, Majin Vegeta, and Super Saiyan God Goku. Furthermore, almost every existing figure is on display with exclusion of Broly, and previously teased Champaand Vados. One of the best displays for the Dragon Ball S.H.Figuarts is the circular which attempts to show the evolution of the series as a whole.
Yet, among the area set-up for Dragon Ball there are a few displays set-up to feature the event exclusive items one can purchase. Now, these items are limited to two per customer and have a limit on how much can be sold per day. The stock is incredible low too, so items tend to sell out within less than the first 90-minutes. The Saint Seiya Myth Appendix Gold Clothset is out favorite display piece due to the fact it is paired with the Saint Myth Cloth Goddess Athena – Original Color Edition. Whereas, the other exclusives including S.H.Figuarts Kaio-Ken Goku are just shoved into one display case. The only things any of our staff managed to obtain was the limited-edition World Tour Tamashii Stages, and single Saint Myth Cloth Aries Cloth. Luckily, Bluefin Tamashii has a booth set-up with current items, as well as pre-sale items to buy such as Soul of Chogokin Daizyujin as its Power Rangers’release, as well as the S.H.Figuarts for Street Fighter and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Near the sale booths is a display promoting Premium Bandai’s launch for its North American website, showcasing items like S.H.MonsterArts Mothra Special Color Edition, S.H.Figuarts x Ultra-Act Ultraman Limiter Release Ver., and various Robot Damashii Gundam figures.
Now, on one side of the hall is the anime and video game related section, and on the other is mostly live-action properties. However, somehow the S.H.MonsterArts Godzilla display managed to end up with anime stuff. In that section, there are two displays for the various Sailor Moon items, two displays for Naruto, and a Megamandisplay which is shared with Neon Genesis Evangelion. There is even displays for Kinnikuman and Street Fighter, but we unfortunately could not get close enough to snag photos of those displays at the time. In that section, the biggest standout was the preview for the Digivolving Spirits 01: WarGreymon; possibly a new line of Digivolution figures for Digimon. Furthermore, Tamashii Nations has a page on its website with a countdown clock that is winding down to the series’/ figure’ reveal in 26 days! We now, eagerly wait for further information on this item…
Then as for the opposite side of the hall, it features the live-action properties as mentioned it earlier. There one can find a Power Rangers display for the Tamashii Buddies and Soul of Chogokin Megazord. Two other cases then feature the S.H.Figuarts WWE series, Marvel Cinematic Universe series, and various DC films (somehow we lost the pictures for the WWE & DC displays). The Meisho Movie/ Manga Realizationseries receives a lot of love at the event, as it seems to take up a solid third of this section. While we were examining the figures, we were often crowded by others just curious at this overly unique line of figures. Also on display is the upcoming releases for Chogokin R2-D2 and C-3P0. Among this area is another teaser/ prototype for Soul of Chogokin Gipsy Danger, along with promotional artwork for Pacific Rim: Uprising’sGipsy Avenger.
Now, after purchasing one’s items, and checking everything we really insist one should check out the “Try Me” booth. There anyone can get a feel for some S.H.Figuarts, and get to test out the Soul of Chogokin Megazord. Our staff really feel in love with that product, as it is a wonderful representation of the mecha. The last day for the World Tour is today, and we hope that those interesting in attending the event can get a chance to stop by. We also hope that this is not the last time New York is graced with an event like this from Tamashii Nations!
Over night, Premium Bandai set up the order page for S.H.Figuarts Nappa from Dragon Ball Z. This SHF has been promoted and rumored for a long time now! Luckily enough it will finally receive an official release this year. Nappawill feature five additional hands, three optional faces, effects parts and a Tamashii Stage. Pre-Orders will begin tomorrow, March 1st, at 16:00 JST. Orders will then release later on in August. Nappawill be sold for 7560 yen. International fans will not need to immediately pre-order this item, as it should receive a wide distribution via Bluefin Tamashii.
The Prince of all Saiyans has once again received another S.H.Figuarts from Tamashii Nations! This incarnation of Vegeta is based on his Ascended Super Saiyan form otherwise known as Super Vegeta, which was heavily featured throughout the Cell Saga. Now, this form is one of my favorites, so I try my best to not be biased. However I cannot confirm if I kept my composure for the entire video!
Earlier this year during theSummer, Premium Bandaiopened a survey that talks about the shipping services to international customers. The survey is currently open and features questions regarding a variety of their products.
Those who are interested can check out the link below for more details.
The first Trunks to be released at retail in the S.H.Figuarts line! However unlike the previous releases that featured his iconic Capsule Corp Jacket, Sword, and Bowl Haircut this one is of his Cell Games design. The Cell Games design features Trunks in his Saiyan Armor, and long ponytailed hair styles. Now, I would argue that this design is also based on Ascended Super Saiyan Trunks due to slight bulkier body, just the Super Saiyan head would contradict this belief. Anyways, this SHF truly fits in alongside the original SHF SSJ Goku, SSJ Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Perfect Cell, and the newly released Super Vegeta to recreate the Cell Games. Also the wait is on for SHF Tien and Yamacha!

S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta was released earlier this year around March to May, and was distributed within North America as a retail release via Bluefin Tamashii. Originally this figure was marketed under sub-line for Resurrection F, but was later changed to feature the more relevant Super logo. The overall figure is probably the best Vegeta that Tamashii Nations produced in the SHF series to date, but unlike the Super Saiyan Blue Goku which features a base state head this Vegeta does not making it rather difficult to display alongside Goku for non-battle displays…
