SDCC 2017: First Look at Monsterverse’s Mothra

Today at San Diego Comic Con, Legendary Pictures has “members” of Monsterverse’s Monarch interacting with con goers. From these interactions fans got to see first-hand a teaser image of Mothra. This teaser image features Mothra’s design in Godzilla: King of the Monster. However, the image is based on one of the tablets located in the film’s Temple of the Moth. Michael Dougherty to Direct Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Today, Legendary Pictures confirmed that writer, Michael Dougherty will now also be directing the sequel to Godzilla. Originally Michael Dougherty was hired alongside his “Krampus” co-writer Zach Shields to write future sequels in the Monster cinematic universe, dubbed the MonsterVerse. However, after months of working with Legendary Pictures this deal has been extended due to long lasting ties with studio. Alex Garcia will still be in control of all projects. Today, Legendary Pictures has revealed the title for the upcoming sequel to the 2014 Godzilla film. Godzilla 2 Writers Confirmed – Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields

Variety has recently reported that Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields will be the main writers for the sequel to the 2014 Godzilla film.   Both writers are known for writing “Krampus” for Legendary. It is also been hinted that Legendary is currently planning to set up the writers that will help work on Godzilla/ King Kong film universe. No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates. “Godzilla 2” is currently planned to  premiere on March  22, 2019 and  “Godzilla vs. Kong” is set for May 29, 2020.
