The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Ken Watanabe is joining the cast of the live-action Detective Pikachu film. For those who are unaware, Ken Watanabe, has starred in various films such as The Last Samurai, Ashita no Kioku/Memories of Tomorrow, and as Dr. Serizawa in the recent Godzilla film by Legendary Pictures. Deadline has reported the premiere details for the upcoming Detective Pikachu film. For those who haven’t been following the film, Detective Pikachu is a live-action adaptation of the Pokémon spin-off game of the same name. Variety has reported that Kathryn Newton is joining the cast of Legendary’s live-action Detective Pikachu film as the head female lead. Kathryn will be co-star alongside the main lead male character, which will be portrayed by Justice Smith. As reported earlier the film will be directed by Rob Letterman and the script will be written by Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch. The live-action Detective Pikachu film will be distributed by Universal Pictures outside of Japan while the film will distributed by Toho in Japan.
