Cathy Yan to Direct Harley Quinn Spinoff Film

Several new outlets have reported that Cathy Yan is set to direct the next DC spinoff film, which will focus on Harley Quinn.  The film will be based on the Birds of the Prey comic series and Margot Robbie will return to reprise the titular role. LuckyChap Entertainment and Kroll & Co Entertainment will be producing the film alongside Bryan Unkeless’ Clubhouse Pictures.  Seeing as the project is still early in development no other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates. Ava DuVernay to Direct DC’s “New Gods”

It has recently been reported via various media outlets that Ava DuVernay is set to direct DC’s “New Gods,”  which is the latest project in the DC Extended Universe. It has also been revealed that Kario Salem is set to to be the head writer for the project. The film is based on the comic series with the same name by Jack Kirby that was released in 1971.  The New Gods have also appeared in other various comic storylines throughout the years. CBR has recently reported about the release details for the upcoming DC animated film, Batman: Gotham By Gaslight.  The film will first be released digitally on January 23 and will later be released in a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack on February 6, 2018.  For those who are unaware, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is an animated adaptation of the one-shot comic of the same name that was released in 1989. IGN has posted a new trailer for the upcoming DC animated film, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight on their official Youtube channel.  The latest trailer features a deeper look at the film’s story and so far it is looking quite good. Warner Brothers has announced that they will be releasing Superman: The Movie – Extended Cut & Special Edition 2-Film Collection via Warner Archive.  The set includes the 3-hour TV edition of Superman: The Movie and the special edition release of the film. While the special edition of the film has been released on Blu-ray in the past this special set will be the first time the TV extended cut will be available in this format.
