Variety has reported that Joel McHale will be joining the cast of the upcoming DC Universe exclusive Stargirl series as Sylvester Pemberton, who is also known as Starman. The character is stated to be depicted as the “Golden Age Starman” and he will have a reoccurring role in the series.
For those who are not aware, Sylvester Pemberton made his debut appearance in Action Comics #40, which was released in September 1941. The character was created by Jerry Siegel and Hal Sherman. The character also had various aliases throughout his career such as Star-Spangled Kid and Skyman.
Variety provided a short description of the character.
A courageous and confident superhero, Starman is a member of the Justice Society of America. He wields a mysterious anti-gravity weapon called the cosmic staff and has a longtime sidekick named Stripesy, who is better known as Courtney Whitmore’s stepfather, Pat Dugan.
No other details are confirmed at this time, so stay tuned for further updates. The Stargirl series will launch on DC Universe in 2019.
