June 2023 Nintendo Direct Streamed

Nintendo has recently streamed a Nintendo Direct, which featured a look at several of the games that will be released in 2023 and beyond.

First, the direct featured a look at the upcoming DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The trailer revealed a look at several of the new NPCs and the several exclusive new Pokémon species. Part 1 of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will be released this Fall, while part 2 will be released this Winter. Additionally, a 5 Star Raid that will feature a Chest Form Gimmighoul will be available starting today. Players can also put in the code TREASURE HUNT via mystery gift to receive 10 gold nuggets, 10 Rare Candies, and a friend ball. Next, the direct featured a new look at Sonic Superstars. The trailer took a look at several of the Chaos Emerald abilities and more. The game will launch for the Nintendo Switch this Fall. The next game shown in the direct was a free to play farming sim called Palia. The game is set to release this Holiday season.

 

Next, the direct took another look at Persona Tactica, which was previously revealed earlier last week. The game will feature the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 as they are transported to an unfamiliar world. As the name suggests, the game will feature tactical based combat and players will meet a new character named Erina as they try to fight against the various enemies that are trying to take over that world. Persona Tactica will be released on November 17 Continuing on, the direct took a look a new roguelike game based on “Saturday Morning Cartoons” called Mythforce. The game will be released sometime this year. The direct then featured a look at the next Splatfest in Splatoon 3. The theme of the next splatfest will be Vanilla, Strawberry, and Mint Chip. The splatfest will be held on July 14 through July 16. New themed battles will also be featured.

 

The next game revealed in the direct is the sequel to Detective Pikachu titled, “Detective Pikachu Returns.” For those who are not aware, the first Detective Pikachu was released for the Nintendo 3DS on February 3, 2016. The game was also adapted as a live-action film of the same name, which premiered in theaters on May 10, 2019. Detective Pikachu Returns will be released on October 26. The direct then revealed a remake for Super Mario RPG. The original Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars was released for the Super Nintendo in 1996. The remake of Super Mario RPG will be released on November 17, 2023.

 

Then the direct revealed a look at a new game that will feature Princess Peach, however no other details about the game were revealed at this time. It also revealed that Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon will receive an updated port for the Nintendo Switch. Both games are set to release sometime in 2024. The direct then featured at look at the long awaited Batman Arkham Collection, which is set to release in Fall 2023. The next game featured is Gloomhaven, which is a tactical card based RPG based on a board game. The game is set to release on September 18, 2024. A new trailer for Just Dance 2024 was then unveiled with release date of October 24, 2023. The next game featured was a new action RPG from XSEED Games titled, “Slient Hope.” The game is set to release for the Nintendo Switch on October 3, 2023.

 

Following that the direct featured a showcase of some upcoming games, which include:

  • Fae Farm: September 8
  • Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbo Charged: October 19, 2023
  • Manic Mechanics: July 13
  • Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope DLC 2: Later Today

Afterwards, the direct featured a new title in the long running Dragon Quest Monster series titled, “Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince.” The game is set to release on December 1, 2023. The direct then revealed a new trailer for Pikmin 4. Players will be controlling members of the Rescue Core as they work to repair their damaged ship and collect treasures. Players will meet a new friend named Oatchi, who can help them in battles and more. Players will also encounter other lost captains. Some captains will be captured by some strange foes, which leads players to combat in Dandori Battles. Players will need to race against the clock and gather as many objects to save the captains. A new species of Pikmin called the Glow Pikmin can help players defeat enemies and help them with their mission at night. Pikmin 4 is set to release for the Nintendo Switch on July 28. Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 are also confirmed to release on the Nintendo later today. A demo for Pikmin 4 will also be available on June 28.

 

Interestingly, the direct announced the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 1. Whereas, the collection will feature digital content such as a soundtrack, strategy guides, and more. The collection will include:

  • Metal Gear Solid 1
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
  • Metal Gear
  • Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake
  • Metal Gear (NES)
  • Snakes Revenge (NES)

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 1 will be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 24.

 

Moving along the direct revealed that Vampire Survivors will be making its way onto the Nintendo Switch on August 17, 2023. The next then took a look a new Rythm game called Headbangers: Rhythm Royal, which is set to release on October 31, 2023. The direct then revealed a new 3d platforming game titled, “Penny’s Big Breakway,” which will be released in Early 2024. The direct then took a look at the fifth wave of the Mario Kart Booster Course Pass. The first course revealed is Squeaky Clean Sprint, which is a new course that will be available in the pass. Petey Piranha (Mario Kart Double Dash), Wiggler (Mario Kart 7), and Kamek (Mario Kart Tour) will also be joining as playable racers in this wave. The fifth wave of the Mario Kart Booster Course Pass will be available later this Summer. The direct then revealed that Star Ocean The Second Story will be receiving a HD/2D remake. Star Ocean The Second Story R will be released on November 2, 2023.

 

The direct then revealed a new game in the Warioware series titled, “Warioware Move It!” The game will be released on November 3, 2023. The direct then featured a look at some of the upcoming and currently running tournaments as well as sneak peak at the Nintendo Live Seattle event, which will be held on September 1-4 this year. The direct then revealed a look at two new Amiibo based on Zelda and Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will be released this Holiday season. The last game revealed in the direct is a new 2D mario game titled, “Super Mario Bros. Wonder.” The game will feature brand new mechanics as well as Daisy and Yoshi, who will be playable alongside the playable characters in 2D mario titles. The game will also feature a new Elephant powerup. The game is set to release on October 20, 2023.
