Shoko Nakagawa & Sachiko Kobayashi to Perform Pokémon Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Theme

The official website for the Pokémon anime movies recently announced that Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will feature an all-new version of “Kaze to Issho ni” (With the Wind) performed by enka singer Sachiko Kobayashi as the end theme. However, this version is a duet featuring all-time Pokémon fan, and anime voice actress/ singer, Shoko Nakagawa. For those unaware, Mewtwo Strike Back Evolution is the 22nd film in the Pokémon franchise which is a 3D CG remake of Pokemon the First Movie: Mewtwo Strike Back. Furthermore, the original version song also performed by Kobayashi served as the theme song of the original 1998 film.

 

The duet cover of “With the Wind” is being arranged by Seiji Kameda, which will release on July 10. In addition, Sony Music is holding auditions and accepting applications for the “Pokémon Kids 2019” ensemble. The selected members from the auditions will receive the opportunity to record the song with Kobayashi and Nakagawa in mid-May.

 

Pokémon Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution opens in Japan on July. The film will feature the main cast of the series reprising their roles for the film. In addition, Masachika Ichimura returns to provide Mewtwo’s voice, as well as the late Unshō Ishizuka providing the narration for the new film. Furthermore, Kuihiko Yuyama returns to direct the film alongside CG director, Motonori Sakakibara. Whereas, Takeshi Shudō will be credited as the scriptwriter, even though he passed away in 2010.
