Hugh Grant Joins “Dungeons and Dragons” Film Cast

Variety has reported that Hugh Grant has been cast as the villain of the Dungeons and Dragons film. Additionally, it has been reported that Sophia Lilis will also be joining the cast of the film as well. The other confirmed cast members consist of Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Regé-Jean Page.

As reported earlier, Johnathan Goldstein and John Francis Dalley are set to direct the film. The duo will also work as the writers on the project based on the previous script written by Michael Gilio. Jeremy Latcham will be producing the film for eOne. The film will be produced and distributed by eOne and Hasbro. Paramount will distribute the film overseas.

For those who are not aware, the film is based on the table top board game of the same name. The game was created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. The first incarnation of the game debuted in 1974 and was published by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. The game was later published by Wizards of the coast starting in 1997. Current incarnations of the board game are now being released by Hasbro, who purchased Wizards of the Coast in 1999.

Dungeons and Dragons is a tactical board game where players get to create their own character and usually play within a fantasy style setting. The “Dungeon Master” serves as the narrator and referee. Additionally, the “Dungeon Master” will usually play the NPC (non playable characters). Players will also be able to obtain experience points, which are used to increase their levels.

No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
