The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi. Cretton is best known for his 2013 film, Short Term 12, and 2017’s The Glass Castle.
For those who are not aware, the character is a Martial Artist of an Asian-American descent. He was created by Steve Engleheart and Jim Starlin. The character made his debut in Special Marvel Edition #15, which was released in December, 1973. He later rebelled against his father when he became a hero. The character recently appeared as a member of the Avengers during the Marvel Now! event in 2012.
As reported earlier, Dave Callaham is set to write the screenplay for the film.
