Studio Trigger Announces 3 New Titles, Including Denkou Choujin Gridman

Today during Anime Expo 2017, Studio Trigger announced three of its new titles. Among these new titles is an adaptation for Tsuburaya Productions’ tokusatsu series, Denkou Choujin Gridman! Gridman was an innovative tokusatsu series that used D-2 digital video, and the series ran from 1993 to 1994 for a total of 39-episodes. The series featured three young kids attempting to make their own video game superhero, but only to discover it is possessed by the inter-dimensional cop, Gridman. Gridman is in search of the villainous, Kahn Digifer, who seeks to bring his virtual monsters to human world. However, Gridman is best remembered in North America for its adaptation as Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. Now, the anime adaptation is simply referred to as Gridman, and will be directed by Akira Amemiya. Nearly two years ago, Amemiya also directed the Gridman short produced by Studio Trigger, which focused on the cancelled intended sequel. In addition, the Gridman anime has been revealed to be an original story unrelated to original Denko Chojin Gridman series. Below is the original opening to tokusatsu produced by Tsuburaya:

Then as for the two other titles announced; the first is for a new original sci-fi anime titled DARLING in the FRANKXX. The series is a co-production with A-1 Pictures, and its staff will be announced in Japan on July 5th. The next series is a collaboration with XFlag called Promare. The series will be directed and written by the team of Hiroyuki Imaishi, and Kazuki Nakashima, who plan to tone series similar to Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann; key visuals are illustrated by Shigeto Koyama. Furthermore, it was revealed that the Promare project has been in productions for four years.
