Valkyrie Coming to Marvel Comics’ Series Exiles

Happy Tuesday everyone! We have some good comic book news for fans of Thor Ragnarok. To begin, there is going to be an upcoming comic series called Exiles. Which is being drawn by Javier Rodriguez and written by Saladin Ahmed. That said the fifth member of this team is going to be Valkyrie from Thor Ragnarok. Well not quite, okay let me quote the Comicosity article that breaks this down.

“Valkyrie’s a character who’s always appealed to me. Her iconic warrior-woman look — spear! sword! flying horse! — but also the juxtaposition of a kickass ancient fantasy hero operating in contemporary New York City. She’s a classic Marvel heroine,” said series writer Saladin Ahmed. “But the EXILES version of Valkyrie is a bit different from what we’ve seen in comics thus far. Our Valkyrie is known as the Lone Defender of Asgard, and she’s a tankard-draining, maiden-wooing, giant-slaying thunderbolt of a woman. Though she’s not technically from the Marvel Cinematic Universe reality, she’s basically the literalization of the larger-than-her-physical-frame swagger that Tessa Thompson displayed in THOR: RAGNAROK, turned up to 11.”

I have to say I am glad they decided to take their jump at introducing this character. Many comic readers will complain since some do not like the concept of movie versions being brought into the Marvel Comics universe but I am happy that it happens every now and again. I mean the Agents of Shield cast are now in the Marvel Comics universe and I hope they get another shot at being in the universe. Anyway, welcome Valkyrie and I hope you enjoy being a member of the Exiles. That book is set to hit selves on April 11th, 2018.
